How do I fit and adjust my Snowboard bindings?

Hvordan monterer og justerer jeg mine Snowboardbindinger? - Brugteski.dk ApS

If you are looking for perhaps your first snowboard, and need help with mounting and adjusting your bindings, THEN this is the right guide for you! How one's snowboard bindings should be fitted is ultimately a matter of taste, everyone is different. We have compiled the general guidelines for how to mount them correctly, and since you get to stand more and more on your board, you can adjust yourself according to what feels right for you.
If you are still in doubt about which board to choose, you can read our Snowboard guide here.

You must go through these steps to be able to mount and adjust your snowboard bindings yourself:

1. Correct size bindings
2. Your preferred standing position
3. Distance between the bonds
4. Placement of the bindings
5. Adjusting the bindings

1. Correct size bindings

It is important that your board fits the size of your bindings, so that when you turn your toes do not hit the snow. Boots may go 2.5 cm beyond the board, this is completely normal. With us, all our boards fit the size of our bindings!

At Brugteski.dk we have three different sizes of bindings; Small, Medium & Large.
Small: Fits sizes 23-26.5 cm, and EU shoe sizes 37 to 41/42.
Medium: Fits size 26.5-29.5 cm, and EU shoe sizes 41 to 44/45.
Large: Fits sizes 29.5-33 cm, and EU shoe sizes 45 and up.

2. Your preferred standing position

When talking about your preferred standing position, it is about whether you stand with your left or right leg in front. In "snowboarder parlance", this is called Regular or Goofy. Regular is when you have your left leg in front, which is also the most common, and Goofy is then with your right leg in front.

How do I find my standing position?
When you need to find your preferred standing position, it is NOT about whether you are best at kicking a soccer ball with your right or left leg. You find out by having to pretend to slide along a floor in stocking socks. How do you want to stand if you need to stand most stable? Or when you did tug-of-war in elementary school, how did you stand there?

This is your preferred position as it is all about standing in the most stable way on your snowboard.

3. Distance between the bonds

This distance has an effect on how you stand on the board and what feels natural to you. The number of adjustment holes a snowboard has varies. Many of the boards we sell at Brugteski.dk have a fixed distance between bindings, where on some of the snowboards you will be able to adjust this yourself. If you are in doubt about the distance, some snowboards often have a long standard marked on the board. It is a good idea to start from this length, and then you can always adjust afterwards when you know exactly how you want to stand.
See our selection of snowboards here.

How do I find the distance between my bindings?
1. Start by measuring the length from your kneecap, down to your heel.
2. Then place the measuring tape on your snowboard and mark the nearest holes so you know where to screw the washers.
3. Here it is important that the length to the tip of the board is the length, than the length from the bottom of the board.
4. When you mount the washers on your board, it is important that you do it by hand, i.e. a screwdriver and not a drill, and never use Loctite or other sealants. This can damage the thread, and will ultimately cost you dearly.

4. Placement of the bindings

Now you have found the right size bindings, found out what your best standing position is, and how big the distance between the bindings should be. Now it's time to mount the bindings in the correct position. See our picture guide below to see how easy the bindings are to apply and adjust on the snowboard.

What angle should my bindings be set to?
The short answer is, "It's a matter of taste, and only you know that.". But if you haven't tried snowboarding before, you don't know. It requires a lot of hours on the board, and trying out in all sorts of different ways!

However, we have some guidelines on how to get a good starting position, and then you will be able to try your hand at it.
The most normal is what is called a "Duckstance", where your feet point out in different directions. Typically it is +15 degrees and -15 degrees. The plus 15 degrees is on your front leg and the minus 15 degrees is on the back leg. Start with this position and work your way up to what you think suits you best.

Adjustment and installation of snowboard bindings

It is a typical mistake to mount bindings with the buckles facing each other. It is important that the buckles face out and are on the outside of your snowboard boots. See picture below.

5. Adjusting the bindings

Now comes the last point of this guide. Ensuring your snowboard boots fit snugly into the bindings. There are a few different elements you can adjust here.

First, you can adjust so that your strap fits well and tightly around your boots. Here, approx. be a 4-5 thanks back when your boots are fully tightened to the bindings.

Second, you can adjust your "Highback", which is what supports your heel and the back of your leg. Here you can adjust the angle of how much you want to lean forward. Now there is more of an angle towards the leg, now it is easier to shrink backwards, i.e. towards your heel side.

Congratulations

Now you can adjust your bindings to your snowboard yourself. The more you stand on a snowboard, the easier it becomes for you to adjust them 100% correctly. Try setting bindings according to this guide first, then adjust around different things until you find the perfect position for you!
